SCALE™ Core is SagaciousThink's organizational intelligence system; a set of complementary assessment instruments, connected by intelligence layers that reveal how findings relate across organizational levels and across time.
Every organization operates on two levels at once: how the business itself runs, and how it's governed. SCALE Core reads both, separately, and increasingly, together, so leadership and boards see the full picture, not just the parts that happen to have a diagnostic already built for them.
Three Core Instruments
Each instrument measures a different part of the organization:
Engine — How is the organization operating?
Reads the management team and organizational systems: strategic alignment, execution capability, accountability, leadership, and resilience.
Board Value — Does the board have the right people to govern effectively?
Reads individual directors and board composition: skills, activation, distribution, and succession risk.
BoardPulse — Is the board aligned with leadership on strategy and risk, and is that oversight effective?
Reads the board as a collective body: governance culture, decision quality, and whether the expertise that's present is actually being deployed.
Board Value and BoardPulse are designed to work in sequence, composition first, then culture, because having the right expertise on a board and actually using it are two different questions with two different answers.
Independent Validation
Most organizational assessments rely on a single source of information. SCALE doesn't.
It measures the organization from multiple independent perspectives. When a company-level finding and a governance-level finding point at the same underlying issue, seen from two different angles, by two different instruments, that's not a coincidence worth dismissing. It's confirmation most organizations never get.
Two Intelligence Layers
Once those instruments exist, SCALE can do something most diagnostics cannot: connect findings across time and across organizational levels.
Drift
Transforms a point-in-time assessment into a living baseline. It shows not only what's changing, but how quickly, where momentum is building, and where deterioration is beginning; often before it becomes visible in traditional performance metrics.
Convergence
Tests whether alignment between company-level and governance-level findings is real, or only assumed.
Drift asks whether things are changing. Convergence asks whether the levels agree.
Built Once. Applied Many Ways.
SCALE Core is the foundation. SCALE™ Transaction Readiness, for example, applies it to M&A. The same instruments extend naturally to other situations: Board Value's succession and pipeline data supports succession planning; BoardPulse's governance benchmarking and best-practice library support governance modernization engagements. The core stays constant, how it's applied changes with the need.
Where Do You Start?
If your question is:
How is the organization operating?
Does this board have the right people?
Is the board aligned with leadership?
What’s changing and what’s new?
Does the board and leadership see the same organization?
Organizations don't fail because they lack data. They fail because the data lives in separate places. SCALE Core brings those perspectives together, giving leaders and boards a shared view of the organization they're responsible for building.
